A Lot of Thank You's....

After Morning Prayer on Sunday, we had our annual Congregational Meeting. We have so much good news to be thankful for including a projected balanced budget! Thank you to everyone who made a pledge for next year. Another 'Thank You' to everyone for all your help, work, effort, and support this year!

In addition, Teresa was elected to a new three year term on the Mission Committee replacing Rose Marie whose term expired. In the Mission Committee meeting following the Congregational Meeting, Rosalind was re-elected as Senior Warden, Mike as Junior Warden, and Earl as Treasurer. Rose Marie has agreed to continue as recording secretary as Mission Committee membership is not required per our by-laws for that position.

On Saturday we had a wonderful early Christmas celebration with lunch at Longhorn Steakhouse followed by the Symphony of the Mountains "By the Fireside Holiday Concert".

Both the food and the service at the Longhorn Steakhouse were very good!

The concert was amazing! In addition to the Symphony, children and young adults from the Academy of Strings, Mountain Empire Children's Choral Academy, Voices of the Mountains, and Mountain Mission Choir also participated.

A special 'Thank You' to Sue and Scott for arranging for the fantastic seats as well as all the work they do as part of the Symphony of the Mountains!

On Sunday, Dec 15, at 3 pm we are celebrating the service known as The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. The Festival tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ through nine scripture readings interspersed with traditional hymns and carols of the Christmas Season. First used in England to start the healing process after the horrors of WWI, the Festival is Anglican in origin but now used by many churches. The service will feature the string quartet, Maestoso Musica, and organ accompaniment to traditional Christmas Hymns. Fr. Dennis will have an abbreviated Holy Communion service at 11 am followed by a pot luck lunch followed by the Lesson and Carols service. Please let Rose Marie what dish you plan to bring to the pot luck luncheon. Light refreshments and coffee will be served after the service.

Russell led a very thought provoking and informative Sunday School session this past Sunday. He discussed the historical divisions of patterns of thought - Ancient to Medieval to Modern to Post Modern. Thank you Russell - we have a lot of food for thought!
