Beautiful Fall Colors on The Eighteenth Sunday after Trinity
"For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints."
Proverbs 2:6-7

Mike and Scott led a beautiful morning prayer service this past Sunday. Mike led the service and Scott delivered a very interesting sermon about Wisdom based on the Old Testament lesson (Proverbs 2: 1 - 9).
As Scott's recent studies at Nashotah House Seminary included a deep dive into the Old Testament, he chose to focus his sermon on the Old Testament reading. Much of the wisdom presented in Proverbs is like advice a parent would pass on to a child. Examples of this wisdom include 1) warnings about the dangers of drinking too much in Proverbs 23:30-35, 2) the consequences of laziness in Proverbs 6:6-11, and the dangers of inappropriate intimate relationships in Proverbs 7:18-27. Proverbs also gives us the key to true wisdom: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." (Proverbs 9:10). Scott then tied this statement about wisdom with our Gospel lesson about the greatest commandments. In summary, Wisdom is gained by fearing the Lord, by obeying His commands, and by loving Him and our neighbors.

Armed Intruder Training
". . . Be not ye afraid of them: remember the LORD, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses." Nehemiah 4 :14
The Mission Committee sponsored a 'Law Enforcement Response to Shootings in Public'. Teresa arranged for the Sullivan County Sheriff, Jeff Cassidy to come to St. Peter's on Tuesday. Invitations were mailed to many local churches.
We had a wonderful turnout. Sheriff Cassidy provided a lot of food for thought for keeping St. Peter's safe.
