Congregational Meeting Next Sunday!

Next Sunday, Nov. 29, the First Sunday in Advent, we are holding our annual Congregational Meeting! We will be:

1. electing a new Mission Committee member,

2. reviewing 2020,

3. reviewing (& hopefully approving) our 2021 budget.

Also, Fr. Scott will formally introduce himself and discuss some of his thoughts and ideas for St. Peters.

Please join us! If you are unable to attend, but would still like to vote please let me know. We will arrange to call you as we begin the voting, will read you the motion and record your vote. Even though we can't all be together, your thoughts and votes are so important.

Mike led our Morning Prayer Service this past Sunday. His sermon expanded on the Gospel Lesson which describes Jesus feeding the 5000 men with 5 barley loaves and two small fish. The author of the sermon pointed out that in this scene, the LORD provided "sufficient for their needs" - they ate all they wanted! This same lesson is found in Psalm 23 (The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want."), 2 Cor 12:9 (My grace is sufficient for thee), and John 6:35 (I am the bread of life). Thank you Mike for leading the service!

Fr Scott led our Christian Education Session this Sunday. His topic was The Christian Year. He traced the evolution from a Jewish based calendar to the Christian calendar we have now. He reviewed the timing of Easter and Christmas, the Saints days/feasts, and the church seasons & colors. Thank you so much Fr. Scott for preparing such an interesting lesson! Next week he will discuss the Building Orientation in an Anglican Church and the priest's vestments.

After service we ate a wonderful lunch including Claudia's homemade beef vegetable soup, Carole's fruit bowl, and Rose Marie's Hershey Chocolate Cake. Thank you all for providing such a wonderful lunch!

The chocolate cake was specially made for our newest chocolate lover, Maryl, on her Birthday!! Happy Birthday, Maryl and many more!

We were so thrilled that Maryl's parents, Jon and Anne, joined us for services and lunch.

Amber looked particularly satisfied with her crackers!

After our luncheon feast, we decorated the church for Advent. We put up the Advent wreath, the Christmas Tree, the door wreathes, and changed the Altar linens. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures! I will include some next week!

First used in England to start the healing process after the horrors of WWI, the Festival is Anglican in origin but now used by many churches. Our service features the Symphony of the Mountains string quartet playing traditional Christmas Hymns.
