Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. And the Jews marveled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
St. John 7:14-16

As Fr. Paul was out of town this Sunday, Fr. Mike led our beautiful Morning Prayer service! Thank you Fr. Mike!

After services we enjoyed a delicious brunch of bagels, cream cheese, smoked salmon, mini quiches, egg salad sandwiches, pastries, fruit, and juices provided by Benita, Jessica, Ambler, and Rosalind.

A particularly dapper looking Levi joined us!
Thank you to everyone for a lovely Sunday at St. Peter's!

Happenings
Hope House

Jessica and Levi drove all the donations from St. Peter's to the Hope House facility.

Willow, one of the other visitors at Hope House, helped present our donations! Thank you to everyone who donated! Thank you to Jessica and Levi for delivering the donations!
Helping Hands

In our most recent Mission Committee meeting, we voted to form a "Helping Hands" group at St. Peters. This group will help other St. Peter's members on an as needed basis. The help we hope to offer includes:
-group visits to members who are unable get to church
-assisting members recovering from surgery or accidents
-accompanying Fr. Paul when he brings Holy Communion to people in their home.
Please let me or Diane know if you are interested in supporting any of the activities of this group. We are looking for ideas and suggestions! We will schedule a quick organizational meeting after services in the near future.
The Annual Deanery Picnic

St. Peter's is a member of the Appalachian Deanery which includes APA churches in East Tennessee, western North Carolina and parts of South Carolina. The annual picnic is an opportunity to meet the many wonderful people who are part of our larger church family. The picnic will be held on Saturday, August 23 from 11:30-2:30 at Saint Patrick’s (1825 Rosman Highway, Brevard, NC 28712). We are asked to bring side dishes or desserts. Meat and buns will be provided.
If you are interested in attending please let Fr. Paul know by Friday, August 15 so we can RSVP to St. Patrick's.
Taylor

In celebration of Taylor's upcoming move and wedding, we are hosting a Potluck luncheon on Sunday August 31 - his last day with us at St. Peter's.
