The Third Sunday after Easter 2024

Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

St. John 16:20

Fr. Yossi officiated our beautiful sung Holy Communion service!

Br. Scott gave the sermon this week. His sermon connected the Gospel lesson from St. John 16 and the Jubilate Deo. He reminded us that we enter into the joy of Christ when we pass through the church doors - after all the church is the body of Christ. We enter that joy through baptism, our immersion into this body and our receiving of the Holy Spirit. We enter into the risen life of Christ when we receive him in the Eucharist.

Thank you Fr. Yossi and Br. Scott for the beautiful service. Thank you Hutch for serving!

After services, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch of chili with all the fixings, black bean salad, cheese ball & crackers, and three delicious desserts!

We were very excited to have Scott's sister and family visit us this past Sunday!

Thank you Misty, Hutch, Rose Marie, and Carole for all the delicious food!!

Time to catch up on our yard maintenance after this winter, the Special Events Committee has scheduled a Spring Yard Work Day to complete some work around the church for this Saturday April 27 @ 10 am. The work includes trimming bushes, pulling weeds, cutting back some bamboo, and mulching.

We also have cleaning that needs to be done inside the church!

We will provide pizza for lunch! Please join us as we keep the church looking nice! Please bring your garden tools. If it is raining, we will reschedule for Saturday, May 4!

The Shades of Grace ministry is currently very low on used men's jeans.  In an effort to "Help Fill That Shelf",  we are collecting used men's jeans from now through Sunday, May 26. They are particularly low on smaller size men's jeans (28 - 34" waist). Please place any donations in the basket in the Narthex.

Jody, the owner/operator of the pest control company used by the church, participates in the ecumenical Kairos Prison Ministry International, Inc. (Kairos). Kairos is a "lay-led, interdenominational Christian ministry in which volunteers bring Christ’s love and forgiveness to prisoners and their families". Part of their ministry involves bringing cookies into the prison! His group of volunteers is visiting the Northeast Correctional Complex in Mountain City in early May. Jody will pick up the prepared cookies on Wednesday, May 1 at the church just before Bible Study.

Any one interested in baking at least two dozen cookies (sugar, peanut butter, molasses, or chocolate chip) for their visit please let me know. I will post full instructions on the bulletin board downstairs.
