The Third Sunday in Lent

"Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first." St. Luke 11:26

This Sunday, Mike and Scott gave Fr. Scott a break after his illness last week and led a Morning Prayer Service instead of Holy Communion. Fr. Scott was in attendance and gave the Absolution.

Scott delivered a sermon written previously by Fr. Scott expanding on the Gospel lesson for this Sunday. The sermon discusses the reality of demons and that demons are created creatures able to cause all kinds of trouble in our lives. We need to remember that while evil is real, we can trust in our Baptism which has infused our soul with God's Grace and in the Eucharist where we receive Jesus Christ along with his hard won Grace.

The complete sermon can be found at the following link at the 54 min 40 second mark.

Thank you Fr. Scott for writing that wonderful sermon! Thank you Scott and Mike for leading a beautiful Morning Prayer Service!

Rose and Anne waiting expectantly for church to start!

Fr. Scott continued his series of Lenten Confirmation Classes for those desiring confirmation during the usual Christian Education time. Through out Lent he will use this time for teaching and reviewing the information needed for confirmation. In order to have enough time to cover all the information, Christian Education will start at 9:30 am.

This Sunday he covered the sources of authority (Bible, Creeds, and Councils) and started reviewing the Sacraments.

Please let Fr. Scott know if you are interested in confirmation!

We are opening the church every Friday evening in Lent for a Stations of the Cross service followed by a light dinner. Lynn and Daryl led our weekly Lenten Stations of the Cross service this past Friday. They used a booklet one their sons used as a child at a parochial school. The readings and prayers were for young children but very beautiful and moving. Thank you, Lynn and Daryl for leading the service and sharing the lovely booklet!

Afterwards, Daryl and Lynn provided pizza and Caesar salad for dinner. The Alfredo pizza was wonderful!

And Claudia brought some of her amazing strawberry dessert.

Thank you all for the wonderful service, dinner, and Christian companionship!

The next Stations of the Cross service will be on Friday, March 25 at 5 pm. Teresa and Agnes are leading the service and providing the dinner!
