Team 3 provided an amazing lunch of BBQ pulled pork, baked beans, slaw, and chips. For dessert they served mud cake, chocolate chip cookie cake, and ice cream.

On Thursday we have Choir practice at 10 am and Bible Study at 11 am.
Fr. Paul is leading a series of lessons based on the book The Holiness of God by RC Sproul. Please come join us for these interesting and informative Bible Study classes!
Both Christian Education and Children's Sunday School are cancelled as Fr. Paul is taking a summer break. Classes will resume on Sunday, September 13 at 9:15 and will discuss the thirty nine Articles of Religion in the Book of Common Prayer.

Events and Other News:
The Annual Deanery Picnic
St. Peter's is a member of the Appalachian Deanery which includes APA churches in East Tennessee, western North Carolina and parts of South Carolina. Several members of St. Peters attended the Annual Deanery Picnic this past Saturday at All Saints Anglican Church in Mills River, NC.
All Saints is a beautiful church and their members were wonderful hosts. They served hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, coleslaw, as well as many sides brought by attendees. A beautiful North Carolina afternoon with other Anglicans!

Advanced Directives and Planning Event
The Mission Committee is sponsoring an Advance Directives and Planning Event on Saturday, September 12 at 1:30 in the Parish Hall. Fr. Paul, Teresa, and Laura will be available to help plan your final services and prepare legal documents for healthcare (please note: not wills).
Earlier Teresa sent the following information about this event:
Yes, you have the power to decide who will make important decisions for you regarding your healthcare, finances, funeral, etc. You also have the authority to decide which hymns we sing at your final service, if you make your wishes known in advance. However, these decisions require you to put those choices in writing and in proper form. It is wise to think about these things and put your decisions in that proper form so as to control who and how these important decisions are made.
We have within our congregation people who can assist with these decisions. Laura is able to assist with funeral/memorial service planning. Teresa is offering to assist with the Power of Attorney for healthcare and financial issues. Fr. Paul will discuss planning your funeral service: choice of hymns, psalms, scripture, eulogy, etc. While to some this may seem morbid, for those of us who have gone through the sudden illness and loss of a loved one, it is terrible to make decisions without any guidance from our loved ones. It is the greatest kindness you can give your loved ones.
This event will be open to all St. Peter's members.

Isaiah 117 House
The Giving Corner
Jessica has set up 'The Giving Corner' in the vesting room down stairs. Because our support of Isaiah 117 House is ongoing and their needs are ever changing, she organized this corner just for the support of Isaiah 117 House. This organization serves all ages and sizes of children at their house each staying until the child/children are matched to a foster home. We will use this space to collect items including new clothes for children of all ages. Some of the items Isaiah 117 House is in constant need of are:
Monetary gifts
Gift Cards
Underwear (all sizes)
Socks (all sizes)
No used items
