In the Anglican Church, Pentecost is also known as Whit Sunday because of the white robes traditionally worn on this Sunday by people who were to be baptized and confirmed.

Fr. Scott started his sermon by reminding us that on Pentecost we are celebrating the start of the one Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church - Happy Birthday, Church! We are celebrating the person and work of the Holy Spirit, sent from God and His role of binding the church together. After reviewing the history of Pentecost, Fr. Scott took us back to the Tower of Babel. He drew a direct link between that event and the events of Pentecost. At the Tower of Babel, people attempted to build a tower to God in order to make a name for themselves. God stopped this evil event, saving people from themselves, by confusing the language and fragmenting humanity. At Pentecost, God came down to man in the form of the Holy Spirit, uniting all believers through the church by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. His sermon covered much more about these events as well as more information on the Holy Spirit.
Please find Fr. Scott's complete sermon at the link below at the 23:45 mark:
Thank you Fr. Scott for a beautiful Church Birthday sermon!

Prior to Holy Communion Services, Fr. Scott discussed Anointing in our Sunday School Class. Anointing, also known as Unction, Extreme Unction, and Laying On of Hands is the last of the five normative sacraments (sacraments for all Christians). The Matter of this sacrament is the laying on of hands and anointing with oil by the priest or bishop. The Form consists of the Unction of the Sick prayers found on page 320 of the BCP as spoken by the priest. Physical healing is subject to God's will. Fr. Scott's notes for the Anointing Sacrament are at the following link:
Thank you, Fr. Scott for the very interesting and informative lesson!

St. Peter's church sign - Plan B!!

Fr. Scott is holding our new sign for Ft. Henry Drive. While the lettering is the almost the same as our original sign (also in the picture), the total sign area is smaller resulting in less wind drag. This will allow us to use the original location and a smaller post!
Thank you, Teresa and Mike for working with the vendor on the final design and ordering the sign!

Mike and Taylor installed the new support post Mike built to go with our new smaller sign. Thank you, Taylor and Mike!

This picture shows Mike holding a print out of the new sign. The new sign will be installed soon. Also, Mike plans to paint the post once the wood dries out.
Our next plan is to install the original large sign on the property in front of the church!
