Beautiful Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols Service!

The Symphony of the Mountains String Quartet, including Sue, played all the music for our beautiful Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols Service. The first Festival was conducted at King's College Chapel, Cambridge, England In December of 1918 as a way to begin healing after the horrors of WWI. Thank you, Sue and Scott for arranging for the quartet to come play (and thank you Sue for playing)!!!

Fr. Scott led our beautiful service. His Homily described how the Lessons selected for the service progressively reveal Christ in the Bible. He used a wonderful analogy of scraping frost off a car windshield so we can all see Christ more clearly. Thank you Fr. Scott for a wonderful and informative sermon!

Our Lesson readers:

After service we had refreshments downstairs.

What a beautiful end to a beautiful service! Thank you to all the readers and everyone who contributed to making the service so beautiful!

Before services, several people came early to finish decorating the Fellowship Hall and to set up the refreshments for after services.

Thank you Claudia for bringing all the greenery and candles! Thank you Rose Marie, Claudia, Diane, Teresa, and Lynn for bringing and setting up all the refreshments!

And thank you Earl for creating the bulletin!

As part of preparing for the Lessons & Carols service, we held a 'church clean up day' this past Wednesday. Lots of big 'Thank You's' to everyone who came out to help clean up and set up the church!

Last I want to thank Daryl for helping take lots of these pictures with his wonderful camera pictured below!

Our busy schedule through the Christmas Season is extending into 2021!

The Most Rev. Walter H. Grundorf, D.D. serves as the Presiding Bishop of the Anglican Province of America and bishop of the Diocese of the Eastern U.S (DEUS) to which St. Peter's belongs. Bishop Grundorf will visit St. Peter's on February 28, 2021. We look forward to worshiping with Bishop Grundorf, showing him the many improvements to St. Peters since his last visit, and introducing him to Fr. Scott!

Due to 2020 craziness (need I say more!), Mike and Claudia postponed their St. Peter's Thanksgiving Feast until early January. They have invited us to celebrate an Epiphany Feast with them on Saturday January 9. More information coming soon!

We are having a 'Thank You So Much Party' for Fr. Dennis on Sunday, January 17 after services. Fr. Dennis has been visiting us regularly for almost 1.5 years making the 5 hour round trip to get to Kingsport! He has officiated at Holy Communion Services, taught Christian Education Classes, written magazine articles, and helped us in so many other ways. Please mark your calendar for this special day!

Sue continues to lead our weekly online prayer group on Tuesday at 11:30. Thank you so much Sue for taking the time each week to lead our prayers! If you have a special prayer request but cannot join us, please send your request to Sue. Please contact me if you would like to join us but are not on Discord.

Father Scott officiated at his first Holy Communion Service at St. Peter's two weeks ago and I forgot to take a picture! Fortunately, Maryl remembered!
