"And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day? And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go."
St. Luke 14:3-4

Fr. Yossi led our Holy Communion service this past Sunday. His sermon discussed the Gospel lesson from St. Luke 14 in which Jesus both heals a man of dropsy at the house of one of the chief Pharisees and teaches about humility. He stated that much of the world is playing a game of musical chairs, always looking for that better seat, fighting over worldly goods. The prideful and the self seeking steal from God what He would have freely given. Fr. Yossi concluded by reminding us that the humility of Jesus Christ is our salvation.
Thank you Fr. Yossi for the beautiful service this past Sunday!
Mike, our most experienced server, and Levi, our youngest crucifer, served together this past Sunday! Thank you both!
After services we enjoyed an amazing Team 5 - Men's Team lunch including chili, pork roast, kale salad, sweet potato casserole, stroganoff, pineapple upside down cake, among many other delicious dishes! Thank you to the men for an amazing lunch!!

Every quarter St. Peter's supports a local charity - most recently Shades of Grace (aid for the homeless in Kingsport) and Hope House (aid to young, unwed mothers). We also have plans to support the Marines' Toys for Tots program leading up to Christmas. The Mission Committee chose to dedicate this September to supporting St. Peters with requests for kitchen and cleaning supplies. We will collect items from the lists below in the box downstairs or the basket in the Narthex through the month of September.
Thank you to everyone for your generous support of the local charities and St. Peter's!
