The Fourth Sunday in Lent - 2024

"There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?"

St. John 6:9

Fr. Yossi led our lovely Holy Communion service on the Third Sunday in Lent. The sermon discussed the feeding of the 5,000 as described in St. John 6. Fr. Yossi asked us to look at the events through the eyes of the boy who donated his food and think about the lessons learned by this boy. Fr. Yossi then asked us to be like the boy by putting our trust in God. God will provide for us so we should provide for others. We have been given the voice of a lion but have let the lion be tamed - we need to reclaim our voices by acting and trusting in God.

Thank you Fr. Yossi for the beautiful service and sermon. Please find the both at the following link:

Thank you Fr. Yossi for the beautiful service and sermon. Thank you Br. Scott for leading Morning Prayer. Thank you Br. Scott and Anderson for serving at the altar.

After services, Fr. Yossi led a short congregational meeting. We reviewed the plans for improving the wall behind the altar. Jim, Diane's husband will be doing most of the work.

Jim prepared a mock up of the columns that will be installed on either side of the altar - the actual columns will go from floor to ceiling!

The existing large cross over the altar will be mounted on a large oak shield stained to match the altar (Rose Marie's husband, Earl, made the altar cross for us several years ago). A new wall with insulation and electrical outlets will be installed along with crown moulding and baseboards. Jim expects to start the work the week after Easter and hopefully finish in 2 - 3 weeks. We will have services during construction!

We also discussed the timing for Easter services and settled on 11 am. Also, Fr. Yossi is arranging for an Easter Vigil running from 8am to 5 pm on Saturday, March 30. Next Sunday Fr. Yossi will pass around a sign up sheet for those interested in being at the church for part of the Vigil. Before the meeting ended many in the congregation expressed interest in eating Easter Dinner together - more information on that to come soon!

Our Bible Study will continue this Wednesday at the church. Fr. Paul is leading a series of lessons which are focused on his book As It Is In Heaven A Biblical, Historical, and Theological Introduction to the Traditional Church and Her Worship. The topic for the next lecture is "Is The God of the Old Testament different than he God of the New Testament?"

This past Wednesday, after the Bible Study lesson, we celebrated Fr. Paul's birthday. Happy Birthday and many more!

Also, our Bible Study companion, Miss Vicki, joined us!

We enjoyed a celebratory lunch of chicken salad croissants, egg salad, chips, and cake! Thank you Rose Marie for the cake and croissant sandwiches!

Come join us this Wed., March 13 at 11 am for the next study. If you're enjoying these lectures, please bring a friend! Please remember to bring the book, your bible, and a lunch!

Our next Stations of the Cross service followed by a light dinner is scheduled on Friday, March 15 starting at 5 pm.

The fourteen Stations of the Cross allow us to walk with Jesus Christ during His final day before the Crucifixion using fourteen scripture readings interspersed with prayers. Each Station represents one event that happened during Jesus's walk to the cross. We join with early Christian pilgrims in Jerusalem who walked the Via Dolorosa, which is the path walked by Jesus to Mount Calvary. Come join us in this ancient tradition remembering Christ's Passion.
