The Tenth Sunday after Trinity

"And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, saying, If thou hadst known even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes."

St. Luke 19:41-42

Fr. Yossi led our first Holy Communion service starting with the Morning Prayer service this past Sunday. His sermon focused on the Gospel lesson from St. Luke 19:41-48 in which Jesus weeps over the coming destruction of Jerusalem and the souls lost at that time.

Please find the complete service at the following link:

Thank you Fr. Yossi for the beautiful service and thoughtful sermon! Thank you Br. Scott for all the work making our bulletin for the service!

After services we enjoyed a delicious lunch downstairs! Thank you to everyone for bringing such good food! Starting next week we plan to return to bringing light snacks most Sundays and having a big pot luck lunch once a month. We hope to come up with a rotating snack schedule in the next week.

Fr. Yossi restarted our Adult Christian Education Classes this past Sunday with the first in a series titled Anglican Spirituality, A Closer Walk With God. We discussed the meaning of 'spirituality' and spirituality in the Anglican Tradition. The classes start at 10 am and all are welcome to join us - a pot of coffee will be on!

After lunch, the Mission Committee held its monthly meeting. Br. Scott and Teresa were selected to be our voting lay delegates to the Synod in October. Sue and Diane are our alternate delegates.

Also we will start collecting for Fr. Yossi's discretionary fund on the third Sunday of each month beginning next Sunday. All cash in the offertory plate will go to the discretionary fund.

Daryl advised its time to order new Ordo Calendar's. The calendars are $10 each for either the full size calendar or the pocket size. Please let Daryl know by the end of August if you would like a calendar and which type!

Br. Scott shared this message from our Dean, Fr. Paul Rivard, about The Annual Deanery of Appalachia Picnic :

The time has come again to prepare for our annual picnic and this year it will be held on the beautiful campus of All Saints in Mills River on Saturday, August 26 from 11AM to 2PM.

Our hosts, Fr. Erich Zwingert and his parishioners, have indicated that at present there is no need to bring anything but yourselves to this event so please make a special point to mark your parish calendars and inform the members of your parishes and missions so that everyone has a chance to enjoy a great time of fellowship together with others from the Deanery.

Please let Fr. Yossi or Br. Scott know if you want to attend!

Many thanks to Diane and Sue for helping clean the completed rooms for this past Sunday and . . .

. . . for ALL the help cleaning out and arranging the storage room! What a difference!
