The Third Sunday After Easter & Mother's Day!

Jesus said to his disciples, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. John 16:16

Fr. Scott's sermon focused on the Gospel Lesson for The Third Sunday in Easter. In this lesson the Resurrected Jesus tells his disciples in a short time He will be gone (Ascension) and a bit after that He will return (Pentecost). Jesus compares their emotions as He leaves and returns to a woman in labor - great pain which turns to great joy. Our Lord leaving this world after His resurrection is very sad but gaining Our Lord through the Holy Spirit at Pentecost is a reason for great joy.

Fr. Scott's complete sermon can be found at the following link at the 26:35 mark.

Thank you Fr. Scott for the thoughtful sermon.

In Christian Education, Fr. Scott reviewed Easter customs and celebrations including the church calendar from Lent to Pentecost. He also discussed the Paschal Candle, lambs, lilies, Easter eggs, and bunny rabbits. Thank you Fr. Scott for the very interesting class. This is the last Christian Education session until the fall (date and topic to be announced).

Audree, Fr. Scott's youngest daughter, is having hip surgery this week. Please keep her and her family in your prayers this week!

Fr. Dennis is officiating at our Holy Communion services next week - giving Fr. Scott time to be with his family as Audree begins her recovery. It will be wonderful to see Fr. Dennis again! Thank you, Fr. Dennis for making the trek over the mountains from North Carolina to come to St. Peters!

Also next Sunday is our monthly pot luck luncheon. Please bring a dish to share!
