The Third Sunday After Easter & Mother's Day!

Jesus said to his disciples, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. John 16:16

Fr. Scott's sermon focused on the Gospel Lesson for The Third Sunday in Easter. In this lesson the Resurrected Jesus tells his disciples in a short time He will be gone (Ascension) and a bit after that He will return (Pentecost). Jesus compares their emotions as He leaves and returns to a woman in labor - great pain which turns to great joy. Our Lord leaving this world after His resurrection is very sad but gaining Our Lord through the Holy Spirit at Pentecost is a reason for great joy.

Fr. Scott's complete sermon can be found at the following link at the 26:35 mark.

Thank you Fr. Scott for the thoughtful sermon.

In Christian Education, Fr. Scott reviewed Easter customs and celebrations including the church calendar from Lent to Pentecost. He also discussed the Paschal Candle, lambs, lilies, Easter eggs, and bunny rabbits. Thank you Fr. Scott for the very interesting class. This is the last Christian Education session until the fall (date and topic to be announced).

At services today, we had

mothers to be . . .

mothers . . .

grandmothers . . .

step mothers . . .

exchange student mothers .

May God Bless each you for the love you give and the work you do in all of your 'mothering' roles!

Happy Mothers Day!

We enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day lunch of quiche, muffins, fruit, meats, cheeses, tossed salad with chicken, and cookies provided by Ambler, Sue, and Rosalind.

Audree, Fr. Scott's youngest daughter, is having hip surgery this week. Please keep her and her family in your prayers this week!

Fr. Dennis is officiating at our Holy Communion services next week - giving Fr. Scott time to be with his family as Audree begins her recovery. It will be wonderful to see Fr. Dennis again! Thank you, Fr. Dennis for making the trek over the mountains from North Carolina to come to St. Peters!

Also next Sunday is our monthly pot luck luncheon. Please bring a dish to share!

On Rogation Sunday, May 22, Fr. Scott will read The Great Litany starting at 10 am in the sanctuary (outside if the weather is nice). Holy Communion services will be held at the regularly scheduled time of 11 am.

Please join us on Ascension Day, Thursday, May 26 at 6 pm for Holy Communion Services.

Teresa sent this picture of Fr. Scott with Fr. Chris, Vicar of the Church of the Redeemer in Hilton Head, taken at the recent Anglican Province of America Spring Retreat. Teresa and Agnes attend church with Fr. Chris when they visit Hilton Head.

Please note there is no prayer group meeting this week (Tuesday May 10) due to Sue's concert schedule! Prayer group will resume on Tuesday May 17.

Sue continues to lead our weekly online prayer group on Tuesday at 11:30. Thank you so much Sue for taking the time each week to lead our prayers! If you have a special prayer request but cannot join us, please send your request to Sue. Please contact me (Rosalind) if you would like to join us on Discord.

Beautiful picture of spring time in East Tennessee from the front of Teresa's house!
