The Third Sunday in Lent - 2024

"But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you."

St. Luke 11:20

Fr. Yossi led a beautiful Holy Communion service this past Sunday, the Third Sunday in Lent. His sermon focused on the Gospel Lesson from St. Luke 11 in which the Pharisees accuse Jesus of casting out demons through Beelzebub. These events remind us that Satan can enter our life and turn it upside down if we let our guard down. We must safeguard our souls as they are our most valuable possessions. Please find the complete service and sermon at the following link:

Thank you Fr. Yossi for the beautiful service and sermon. Thank you Br. Scott for leading Morning Prayer. Thank you Br. Scott and Anderson for serving at the altar.

After services we enjoyed another delicious lunch with wonderful fellowship and conversation.

For lunch we feasted on homemade Shepherds Pie, chopped salad, homemade macaroni and cheese, sweet potato casserole, apple crisp with ice cream, and orange cake! Thank you to Merrie, Ambler, Sue, Fr. Yossi, and Rosalind for bringing all the delicious food!

Our regularly scheduled Mission Committee has been postponed until Sunday, March 17. Yossi would like to discuss the Holy Week schedule.

Fr. Yossi continued his series of lessons for Christian Education entitled "Heaven and Hell in Christian Thought & Doctrine". Fr. Yossi has asked us to bring our Bibles (preferably KJV or NKJV) for these studies.

Next Sunday Fr. Yossi will continue discussing C.S. Lewis's thoughts and writings on Heaven and Hell. Please join us - a pot of coffee will be on!

Our Bible Study will continue this Wednesday at the church. Fr. Paul is leading a series of lessons which are focused on his book As It Is In Heaven A Biblical, Historical, and Theological Introduction to the Traditional Church and Her Worship. The topic for the next lecture is "The Holiness of God".

Come join us this Wed., March 6 at 11 am for the next study. If you're enjoying these lectures, please bring a friend! Please remember to bring the book, your bible, and a lunch!

Lin created this beautiful version of the APA shield for our Parish Hall. After seeing her beautiful work . . .

Fr. Yossi asked her to create an APA shield for his tippet which is part of his choir dress (worn during some Diocesan and clergy meetings). Lin both created the shield patch and sewed the patch onto his tippet!! Thank you Lin for all your beautiful work!!

Fr. Yossi led us in reading of the Stations of the Cross this past Friday evening. Everyone attending had the opportunity to read one of the sections of scripture.

After the service, we enjoyed a light dinner provided by Merrie, Diane, Lin, and Rosalind of chili, salad, several homemade breads, and homemade brownies.

Our next Stations of the Cross service followed by a light dinner is scheduled on Friday, March 15 starting at 5 pm.

The fourteen Stations of the Cross allow us to walk with Jesus Christ during His final day before the Crucifixion using fourteen scripture readings interspersed with prayers. Each Station represents one event that happened during Jesus's walk to the cross. We join with early Christian pilgrims in Jerusalem who walked the Via Dolorosa, which is the path walked by Jesus to Mount Calvary. Come join us in this ancient tradition remembering Christ's Passion.

Help for Those in Need

Canon Bob and his family visited St. Peters earlier this year. Last year Canon Bob served as a supply priest to St. Peters before Fr. Yossi joined us. His lovely wife, Chris, crocheted these beautiful hats and sent them to us as part of our contribution to Shades of Grace! Thank you Chris for your kindness and generosity!

Lynn reminded us Shades of Grace is in need of toiletry items.

Do you have any of those hotel mini shampoos, conditioners, lotions or soap taking up space in your vanity? Donate them to Shades of Grace. If not you can still help. Visit a local Dollar Tree and pick up an item or two. Other items they need are bath soap, toothpaste and brushes, deodorant, disposable razors and hair combs.

Please bring your items to church so we can deliver them to Shades of Grace.

Thank you Lynn for the reminder. St. Peter's has supported the Shades of Grace Ministry for a number of years as they provide help to those in need in the Tri-Cities area. Please find more information on Shades of Grace at the following link:

Please put any donations in the basket under the table in the Narthex. We will deliver all donations to Shades of Grace after Easter.
