The Whole Armour of God

"Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."

Ephesians 6:11

Fr. Scott's sermon focused on the Epistle Lesson from St. Paul's letter to the Ephesians starting at the 10th verse of chapter 6. In these verses St. Paul directs us to put on the full armour of God. Fr. Scott compared that equipment to the equipment he dealt with while in the marines. He then reviewed how each piece of the Armour of God helps us as Christians in our fight against spiritual wickedness. He also reminded us that the Sword of the Spirit (God's words) are primarily an offensive weapon and we need to spread the Gospel to those who need to hear it.

Please find the complete sermon and service at the following link:

Thank you Fr. Scott for the inspirational sermon!

During Christian Education this past Sunday, Fr. Scott discussed the relationship between the sovereignty of God and prayer. He asked the question "If God is all knowing, does prayer actually change anything?" While prayer is primarily about the relationship between you and God, prayer does change things. We don't change God's mind, but we are the means through which He chooses to work in the world.

Mike had very successful surgery this past week and is recovering nicely!

Claudia sent this picture today! Mike was released from the hospital one week after surgery! Looking forward to seeing them both after a period of convalescence at home.

Please keep Mike and Claudia in your prayers as Mike continues his recovery. May his recovery continue to be quick and uneventful!

O LORD, holy Father, by whose loving kindness our souls and bodies are renewed; Mercifully look upon thy servant, Mike, that, every cause of sickness being removed, he may be restored to soundness of health; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Big News!

The Mission Committee has contracted to have the old fuel oil furnace replaced with two new heat pumps - one for each level of the church! These heat pumps will provide better air conditioning and heat to the sanctuary and for the first time - air conditioning in the basement. The work will start this coming week and includes removal of the fuel oil furnace & associated oil tank, installation of the heat pumps, new duct work, and revised electrical. The work will be completed in 2 - 3 weeks. During construction, please keep safety in mind, most especially for all the children!

We have decided to cancel food after services for the next three Sundays, November 13, November 20, and November 27 because the downstairs area may be disrupted by the construction.

Also, many thanks to Earl for doing all the research, coordinating all the bids, evaluating the vendors, and supervising all the work!

We are starting a short 6 week Women's Bible Study for Advent using the pictured study guide. The first meeting will be on Wed., Nov 16 at noon. I originally planned to meet at the church but don't think that will work with all the construction. I will let everyone know the location in the next week. At that first meeting we can plan the rest of the meetings! The book is $13 and may be purchased at the following link:

Please let me know if you are interested!
