An Abundance of Blessings...

Father Dennis Washburn drove from Western North Carolina to provide us with Holy Communion this past Sunday. Mike served as lay reader with him. We all truly enjoyed meeting him! After service we shared snacks and conversation with Father Dennis. We look forward to seeing him again soon, getting to know him better, and meeting his wife!

Thank you Father Dennis for coming!

Next Sunday, Oct 6, Father Scott Koszalinski from Knoxville is coming for another Holy Communion Service. Father Scott has come to St. Peters in the past and we are looking forward to seeing him again!

We celebrated Margaret's 90th Birthday at her new residence in Bristol. It was wonderful to see her again. We brought her gifts including chocolates, note pads, pens, stamps, teas, and a shawl

We were all very happy to see her looking so well!

We enjoyed hearing about how she met her husband, her early life growing up in Pulaski, VA, raising her seven children in Abingdon, VA and her decision to teach handicapped children. Such a full and remarkable life!

We also talked about her time with The Church of the Good Shepherd (ACC) in Abingdon. Sigrid, Mike, and Claudia were also members as were Rosalind's parents, Ed and Charlotte. Lots of fond memories from those times!

Women's Bible Study started again! We covered the first lesson, "With the Shepherdess, Encountering God as the Good Shepherd" in Margaret Feinberg's series Scouting the Divine, My Search for God in Wine, Wool, and Wild Honey. Thank you Carol for hosting us and serving a wonderful breakfast casserole and fruit salad! We continue this week with the second lesson, "On the Farm, Recognizing That Everything Has Its Season".

Jim has started putting the money raised from the yard sale to good use! He has installed the first two new lengths of fence on the down hill side of the propane tank. He plans to eventually take the fence all the way down to the end of the property line! Thank you Jim for all the hard work!
